As the summer sun burns brighter, we have to make sure our skin is protected and glowy. The not-so-secret secret is sunscreen. A good sunscreen will do everything your skin needs in one go. To make sure all my girls are protected and glowy this summer, I’m going to be sharing my favorite sunscreen I’ve tried for the face so far.
What is it and Why?
As a combination skin girl with an insanely oily t-zone and super dry rest of the face, I have struggled in finding a sunscreen that works for my face. In addition to that combination, my skin is extremely sensitive and pretty much anything breaks me out. After trying the La Roche Posay Fluid Facial Sunscreen (specifically SPF 60), I was surprised to find that it not only did not break me out, but also helped clear up my skin
What are the Benefits?
This is one of the rare sunscreens that is oil free as well as scent free, meaning it is super safe for sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin. Personally, I am a huge swimmer and love to be out in the sun swimming on day, so reapplying sunscreen and making sure it is strong enough to protect from sun damage is a difficult task. This is why I really enjoy this brand’s sunscreen that is spf 60. It is water resistant and protects skin for up to 80 minutes, impressive I know, which allows for fewer reapplications. I also found that it is oxybenzone free, an organic compound found in many sunscreens that acts as a hormone disrupter and allergen and is known to irritate skin. Because this product lacks so many of the chemicals that are terrible for our skin, I find that it has actually helped to clear up my skin and reduce redness.
What’s Application Like?
The specific sunscreen that I use and like is not tinted, meaning it comes in a white color; however, when applied to the skin, it blends right in and does not leave a white cast. This brand does have the same sunscreen in a tinted version as well that you can look into, I just have not tried that version myself. The sunscreen itself is a liquidy formula that is soft and sinks right into the skin, leaving you with glowy and supple skin.
Final Thoughts
Sunscreen is so important to wear, especially in the summer sun and heat. A good sunscreen should offer protection from the sun, but also protect your skin from harmful chemicals. I have found that this sunscreen works exceptionally in doing all that and more, and if it has worked for my incredibly difficult skin, I believe it will work for yours too.
