If you’re like me at all, you enjoy having a sweet treat every day to compliment your meal. Unfortunately, we often refrain from it due to health concerns. Today, I’m going to be sharing a sweet treat you can make that’s both delicious and incredibly nutritious!
What is it?
It is a cottage cheese spread that you can use either as a dip, or as a topping on top of toast. Either way, it’s delicious!
Why?
Cottage cheese and honey, the two main ingredients for this spread, are both incredibly nutritious while also tasting delicious. Just a few of their benefits are:
Cottage Cheese: 1) an excellent source of protein, particularly casein, a slow-digesting protein that helps with muscle repair and provides sustained energy 2) contains important nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, selenium, and B vitamins (such as B12 and riboflavin), which support bone health, metabolism, and overall bodily function 3)if it’s made with live active cultures, can promote gut health by supporting the balance of healthy gut bacteria.
Honey: provides antioxidants like flavonoids and phenolic acids, which help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals, reducing the risk of chronic diseases 2) prebiotic properties, helping to nourish beneficial bacteria in the digestive system and improving digestion and gut health 3) anti-inflammatory properties can support overall wellness, including bone health
When combined together: the protein from cottage cheese with the natural sugars from honey creates a snack that offers both quick and sustained energy. The protein slows the absorption of the sugars, preventing a rapid spike in blood sugar levels

So, What Do I Need?
– 2tbsp of cottage cheese ( I prefer full fat Russian brand or Good Culture unsalted)
-3/4tbsp of sourcream
-1tbsp of raw honey
How Do I Make and Use it?
- In a small bowl, add 2tbsp of cottage cheese and about 3/4tbsp of sour-cream (your measurements don’t have to be exact). Combine the two with a spoon simply by mixing. The sour-scream is just there for texture, so adjust to your liking.
- Add in your 1tbsp of raw honey (you can adjust the sweetness to your liking), preferably without clumps, and mix together again with a spoon.
- You’re done! It’s that simple and that delicious. You can use it as a dip for sliced fruit or you can use it on top of some toast for a delicious bite. I also like to drop in some blueberries right into the bowl and eat it by the spoonful. Experiment to your heart’s desire! Also, to make a larger portion, simple double, triple, etc. all of the original measurements of each ingredient!
Final Thoughts
I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy snack that is so so delicious but also so so good for you. If you try it out, let me know how you liked it and how you experimented with it!
